Speed-Dating Style 'Connexion' to Bring Followers Back to Church

Soul Connexion, a speed-dating style campaign to get people back to church, is set to launch in England, with huge posters set to invite people to find the right church for them.

Posters will be on display in various locations throughout Swindon, where the event is set to take place. It will look to encourage people to visit the new website www.soulconnexion.org.uk.

The Rev Lee Rayfield, the Bishop of Swindon, came up with the idea.

"Our aim is to reach people who would like to belong to a church but who have not yet managed to find the right one," Rev Rayfield said.

The speed-dating event will take place on Friday 20 October at the De Vere Hotel, in Shaw Ridge.

The event is expected to give people the chance to meet representatives of a number of different churches.

John Lloyd, the spokesman for the Bishop of Swindon, said: "The campaign is a Swindon first and hasn't been tried anywhere else in the country.

"The poster will be around car parks around the town to try to pick up punters who are interested in taking part in the event.

"It's not just for people who have been before, and people might be pleasantly surprised."
