Most superhero movie buffs know that the upcoming "Spider-Man" film from Marvel and Sony will be about a teenage Peter Parker. Unlike the previous iterations of the wise-cracking web-slinger, fans will see him navigate through high school as an oddball and this will span, according to new reports, to three or four Spidey movies. 

Bearing this in mind, fans will not see Peter graduate or go off to college. The movies will be made as coming-of-age films for the hero, which ought to be a completely different take (and not to mention a very refreshing one) from previous retellings of Spider-Man's origins. 

With regard to the actor for the role, there is word that Marvel is down to two young candidates — Asa Butterfield from "Ender's Game" and Tom Holland from "The Impossible." The former is rumored to have snagged the coveted role already and that he has reportedly been always the frontrunner among the actors vying to wear the spandex. 

While the world is close to meeting the new Spider-Man, it is still a cutthroat battle for the director's seat. Five directors are said to be competing for the helming stint, namely Jonathan Levine ("Warm Bodies"), Ted Melfi ("St. Vincent"), Jason Moore ("Pitch Perfect"), Jared Hess ("Napoleon Dynamite"), and John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (the new "Vacation"). 

It won't be long before Marvel introduces the new Spider-Man as the web-slinger will debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe through the upcoming film "Captain America: Civil War," which started production just recently. 

For now though, Marvel will use this time to revel on the massive success of "Avengers: Age of Ultron," which raked in a whopping $191.3 million at the box office. Meanwhile, announcements for the much-awaited "Spider-Man" movie, according to Consequence of Sound, might be made by the end of next week.
