The highly anticipated Spider-Man video game from Insomniac Games is very much underway, and it looks like it will be released sometime next year.

There has been no news about the game ever since it was revealed last June during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016. The release date was also a mystery.

However, the timeframe was narrowed down in the latest commercial for the upcoming PlayStation 4 games next year, which included "God of War" and of course, the still untitled "Spider-Man" game.

Insomniac has shied away from giving a release date for the game although back in July, they implied that fans will not have to wait a couple of years for it.

"Who said it was 2 years away? Just stay tuned. We're still working on it and can narrow it down closer," Insomniac tweeted out, adding that they would "rather give a release date when we're confident in it, versus telling you one we aren't sure about yet."

It will not be too far-fetched should it be released around the same time the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" film starring Tom Holland hits the cinemas in July next year as it could serve as a promotion.

However, the game will not have something to do with the film, and Marvel Games head Jay Ong did not hint about the release dates of the two projects overlapping in his Game Industry interview.

The commercial shows Spider-Man kick some behind as he helps the king featured in the clip when he ends up in the web-slinging hero's turf — Queens, New York.

Not much is known about the game, though. There is a story behind Peter Parker's suit, which fans have never seen before on the superhero. Fans should learn more about the white costume as the game's much-awaited launch nears.

Based on the trailers alone, the visuals of this "Spider-Man" game will look gorgeous. It is planned for a PS4 Pro release as well, so the graphics should be boosted using that console.

Obviously, this is not the first game based on one of the most popular superheroes in comics and in pop culture in general.
