Very few details have been released about "Spider-Man: Homecoming" such as its plot and how it may connect to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, actress Jona Xiao recently stepped forward to give a few details about the film's general direction and the tone that the movie is going for.

Speaking to Talk Nerdy With Us, Xiao revealed that this is going to be the most faithful adaptation of Spiderman (Tom Holland), particularly thanks to the fact that it is set in the MCU. Previous "Spider-Man" series, such as the three films by director Sam Raimi and the two films by Marc Webb, were not a part of the MCU.

"I can't reveal anything about my character," she explained. "But I will say - you mentioned you were a fan - so for fans of Spider-Man and the comics, because Marvel is going to be the one helping produce this time around, it's very much true to canon in terms of the depiction of Spider-Man, and it's his coming-of-age story when he's a teenager," she went on to say.

Xiao did explain that fans can expect to see elements from "Captain America: Civil War," which was where Tom Holland made his debut as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. This may indicate that Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) or even Captain America (Chris Evans) will appear in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" due to how they relate to the character in the film.

She also discussed that the movie would focus a lot on portraying Spider-Man as a regular high school student, who has to deal with normal high school problems, which will make him more relatable to the audience. Although, he also has to deal with his superpowers.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" will star Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jona Xiao, Michael Keaton, Donald Glover, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. The film will open in theaters on July 7, 2017.
