Producer and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently sat down with Steve Weintraub of the Collider during the press day for "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and was fairly open about some of the details regarding the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot and the character's involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 

According to the Collider report, Feige confirmed that the character behind the mask will be Peter Parker, aged somewhere between 15 and 16, putting the character back in high school. This confirms previous rumors spreading across the Internet that Marvel wants a younger actor to portray the character. 

Feige continued to elaborate that despite there being five feature films already done in the past — three handled by director Sam Raimi and two by Marc Webb — none of them focused on Peter Parker's struggles as a young superhero in high school. Feige explained that there are a lot of storylines from the comics that haven't been tapped into yet. 

He also stated that the interaction between a young, high-school Peter Parker with much older heroes of the MCU such as Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man or Chris Hemsworth's Thor would be something new and fresh. 

"The most obvious being the 'young, doesn't quite fit in' kid before his powers," Feige explained regarding Spider-Man's role compared to the rest of the MCU, "and then the fella that puts on a mask and swings around and fights bad guys and doesn't shut up, which is something we want to play with and we're excited about." 

According to another report by the Collider, Feige also confirmed that Spider-Man would not be making a quick cameo in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," even for a post-credits scene. This makes the earliest appearance for the web-slinger to be on May 6, 2016 when he pops up for a cameo role in "Captain America: Civil War." 

The character is scheduled to get his own stand-alone film, rumored to be titled "Spectacular Spider-Man" with Drew Goddard at the helm, on July 28, 2017.
