'Spider-Man' reboot spoilers: to be titled 'Spider-Man: Civil War'

Captain America vs Spider-ManMarvel Comics

There has been very little information regarding the new Spider-Man, now with actor Tom Holland in the role. The character is set to play a role in this year's "Captain America: Civil War" before appearing in his own solo film in 2017. Now, a new report suggests that this is all because Spider-Man's film will continue where "Captain America" ends.

According to Movie Pilot, one of the reasons why Spider-Man has not been shown in any of the trailers or marketing materials is because the character is only going to appear in a crucial post-credits scene. Spider-Man will be appearing in a "crucial" action scene and it is hinted that this action scene will be the post-credits scene discussed.

The report continues to state that "Captain America: Civil War" will not conclude the "Civil War" storyline although it is likely to conclude a large portion of it, particularly that which concerns Captain America (Chris Evans). The solo Spider-Man film will then pick up the story and now focus entirely on Spider-Man's point of view.

It is also explained in the report that Robert Downey Jr. and Evans also mentioned during an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" that they will be returning to Atlanta soon to film another movie. As it happens, Atlanta is where "Captain America" was filmed and is also where "Spider-Man" will be filmed.

Given that the actors themselves have hinted that they will be in the same area for filming a second time, it is speculated that they will be returning to reprise their roles for "Spider-Man," further implying that the Spider-Man movie will continue the events of "Captain America: Civil War."

Unfortunately, Sony Pictures, Marvel Films and Disney have not confirmed the speculation, meaning they are still considered rumors at this point. What is known is that the new Spider-Man movie will not be an origin story and this may give some credence to the speculations thus far.

"Captain America: Civil War" opens in theaters this May 6 while the solo Spider-Man movie opens on July 7, 2017.
