The last time gamers had their hands on the "Splinter Cell" game franchise was around five years ago with 2013's "Blacklist." Since it does not usually take that long to make the next game given the release pattern of the previous games, some thought the game franchise has ended. Now, a leak has appeared for an apparent "Splinter Cell" 2018 game.

The leak, like many other leaks for many other games, comes in the form of a listing on Amazon. The listing aptly names the product "Splinter Cell 2018." It has unfortunately been removed already but those who have seen it on the website were able to share some information about it.

According to IGN, the listing now reads as "currently unavailable" and that, unfortunately, not much info was seen in it. Besides, given that it's been posted on Amazon, which most likely has no idea at all about the game, it is unlikely that it would be placing any specific detail on the listing.

Nevertheless, it does confirm one thing: that a new "Splinter Cell" game may actually be coming soon. Of course, this does not make anything official. However, previously in last year's Electonic Entertainment Expo (E3), Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat touched on the idea of reviving their old franchises. At that time, he mentioned that they have not forgotten about the franchise and it is just that they have "a lot on [their] plate at the moment."

"What we can say is we're receiving a lot of sketches and proposals around the brand and we're going to pick one up," said another Ubisoft CEO, per PC Gamer. "I think you will be able to something, but you will have to wait for that," the executive continued.

Now it looks like they have definitely picked one up. As for what that may be, fans will just have to wait for any official announcements soon.
