"Star Citizen" is looking to make players the star of the game, as they have revealed new customization options for the player character, which is now confirmed to have a female preset.

Cloud Imperium Games, the developer of the game, recently hosted a live stream where Chris Roberts announced that the game will let players choose either biological genders for the hundred-million-dollar indie game. Roberts has revealed this much, meaning female protagonists in the single player aspect of "Star Citizen" are confirmed.

Right now though, the developers could still be working on it, as they only have animation skeletons for the male player characters. There is also the fact that there are currently just male voiceovers for the players, meaning they may yet to find a female counterpart for the talent. As such, it may take a while before patrons of the game can see or hear the female protagonist in action due to dialogue and animation recordings.

Regardless of whether their characters are male of female, however, players will also be able to customize their characters extensively, though to what extent remains to be seen from the developers. That said, it could well be complex since players will be able to import their customizations to the game's persistent universe.

As for the said persistent universe, Cloud Imperium has a lot of innovative plans for the game using the said feature, among which is the organic feel to the game world where the events and actions of the player in the main campaign of the game will carry over to the online and multiplayer aspect. This means that Squadron 42, the game's main story, will have quite an impact on the post-single player activities of players.

There are also certain perks and features associated with the persistent universe of the game. Players need not worry that they may have to complete Squadron 42 first before being able to access them online since the developers have included an alternative for this.

Rest assured, "Star Citizen" is set to be one of the most innovative games of the near future. Right now though, there is no expected release date yet.
