Studios are vying for the chance to screen their movie trailers along with "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which premieres Dec. 18. Apparently successful in securing the spot is "Star Trek Beyond," whose trailer will be attached to the much-awaited J.J. Abrams space film.

This means that fans of both galactic franchises, whose differing answers to the age-old question of which sci-fi epic is better instigated, will have to forget about their feud for a while to be able to enjoy both the sci-fi favorites.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news, the movie was bound to get the spot anyway as "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" director Abrams is one of the producers of "Star Trek Beyond." He was also the helmer of the first two films of the "Star Trek" reboot.

Consequently, it will actually be a bigger surprise if the third movie in the franchise did not get to ride on the thunder of the latest "Star Wars" film. Notably, although "Star Trek Beyond" won't be released until July 22, 2016, an opportunity such as this just cannot be relinquished, as per THR.

At the moment, not much is known about the plot of the third film in the reboot. What is only known is that Idris Elba will be the new big bad while the rest of the cast members are reprising their iconic roles.

Zachary Quinto will be back as Spock while Chris Pine suits up again as Captain James T. Kirk. Zoe Saldana will return as Lieutenant Nyota Uhura and Simon Pegg, who wrote the screenplay, will once again breathe life to Scotty.

The "Star Trek Beyond" trailer will be screened just before "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" starts. Other trailers expected to be broadcasted include "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," "The Huntsman's Winter War," "X-Men: Apocalypse" and "Independence Day: Resurgence."
