First-person shooter video game "Star Wars Battlefront 2" is set to hit the shelves on Nov. 17, and discussions on discounts for the game have already started. The promotional offering will reportedly come later this year, in time for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" to hit the theaters on Dec. 15.

Electronic Arts Chief Financial Officer Jorgensen stated during EA's Earnings Call for Q2 Fiscal Year 2018 that players can expect discounts for the game at around the time of the release of "The Last Jedi" movie. The idea behind this move is that the new film will spike the overall profile of Star Wars, and will help "Battlefront 2" sell more copies at a lower price point.

Jorgensen also pointed out that the company did the same for the first Battlefront in 2015, making discounts available around the time "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was released for the theaters. The move resulted in having "Battlefront" ship more than 14 million copies, becoming one of the most successful Star Wars video games.

Jorgensen added that discounts could also be available during Thanksgiving/Black Friday and Christmas Day. Oftentimes, discounts for video games are given out early when games perform poorly in the market, but Jorgensen clarified that the discounting for "Battlefront 2" should not necessarily be taken this way. EA Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wilson also added that the company also relies on Disney's own marketing efforts for "The Last Jedi."

EA has also done the same for "Madden" games every year in time for the Super Bowl. The company aims to capitalize on the increased interest for football around the time of the year.

"Star Wars Battlefront 2" will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Nov. 17, just a few weeks away from the Dec. 15 release of "The Last Jedi" Film.
