EA is offering more content for "Star Wars Battlefront 2" when the game officially comes out this fall.

During EA's post-earnings call conference, the company revealed new details about the sequel to EA's famed shooter "Star Wars Battlefront." Compared to its predecessor, the game will feature three times as much content once it is released.

"'Star Wars Battlefront 2' will have more than three times the content of the previous game at launch, with a brand-new story, a new single-player campaign, new modes, characters, vehicles, and planets from all eras in the 'Star Wars' universe, as well as a live service plan that will continue to add even more fun for the global community," said EA chief executive officer Andrew Wilson.

Wilson further stated that EA is adding more content and a single-player campaign (under development by Motive) in response to feedback from the original game. In addition, chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen noted that the company aims to release more copies than the 14 million in the first installment during its debut.

EA also claimed that comments on the huge "Battlefront 2" reveal at last month's Star Wars Celebration was "almost entirely positive." Unfortunately, the execs have yet to announce specifics about upcoming downloadable contents and Season Pass-type content after launch. The company promises, though, that more information will be given at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) and the tie-in EA Play event just like in 2016.

Rumors about a VR component to the sequel have been recently making the rounds online and some reports say that it will be revealed in June. The original "Battlefront" game came with a post-release X-Wing VR mission, so new VR content for the sequel is not far from possible.

As for the core game, creative director Bernd Diemer said there is still a lot of improvements needed for the storyline. He mentioned that their focus right now is giving the storyline more depth. ". . . Give more reasons to stick around, try out different heroes, try out different trooper types, and that's why we introduced classes," he said.

"Star Wars Battlefront 2" launches November 17, for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
