'Star Wars Battlefront 3' update: New location confirmed

"Star Wars Battlefront 3" is already in the works, but with no actual release date yet. The first announcement of the game was made back at E3 2013 and since DICE obtained the video game license, they will be making the upcoming "Battlefront 3."

A new update for the game has been confirmed, according to Attack of the Fanboy. The new location to be featured in the new game is called Tatooine. Developer Daniel Cambrand said in an interview that the sandy planet Tattoine is actually based on the country Tunisia. The team themselves had to go to Tunisia to get a personal feel of the location.

This isn't the first time the location Tattoine is seen in "Star Wars." It was actually already seen in the "Star Wars" trilogy movies. Adding the sandy planet just makes total sense, since the icy planet of Hoth and the forest moon of Endor were already confirmed to be the locations of the game too.

As for the release date, EA just said it's going to be Summer of 2015. EA Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen said that the game will be released before the "Star Wars VII" is released.

And since E3, there's been little news about the upcoming game from EA and DICE, aside from the one mentioned above. But if there's one thing fans of the game know, it is that "Star Wars: Battlefront 3" will be taking a different direction from the movie.

EA Vice President Patrick Soderland has also made an official statement about the game and the movie. "What we're building is more rooted in the traditional Star Wars universe and not so much necessarily linked to the movies being made. And that's just because we wanted to make a game that celebrated the history of Star Wars," said Soderland.

He added, "Obviously there will be things in there that are somewhat tied to the new movie. I wouldn't say that we have a particular tie to the movie. Now, obviously we would prefer to be close to the movie, but I wouldn't say that we're directly tied to it."
