'Star Wars Battlefront' beta release date to feature 40-player gameplay mode

Electronic Arts

Fans who cannot wait for the November release of "Star Wars Battlefront" will have an early taste and sneak peek at its multiplayer gameplay.  According to the announcement by game publisher Electronic Arts, they will be releasing a beta test program for the title in early October, and the test feature will be made available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and on Origin for PC players.

The beta program will also serve as a technical test to smooth out any kinks for the upcoming multiplayer feature of "Star Wars Battlefront." Since the upcoming test game is a beta, there will only be limited features available for players.

One of the most noted features of the upcoming beta is that it will include the Walker Assault on Hoth game mode, which is a 40-player multiplayer battle between the Rebels and the Empire. Those who will be playing using the mode will also unlock two characters from the franchise – Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

Aside from the 40-player battle campaign, the beta program will also feature a survival mission set on the planet Tatooine, as well as a brand-new Drop Zone mode specifically made to be launched for the beta.

Electronic Arts and its subsidiary, game developer EA DICE, have been consistent in building up the hype for the upcoming title. However, they did not announce when the beta will hit the platforms, but the target release date is in early October.

"Star Wars Battlefront" will be released in North America and Brazil on Nov. 17, in Australia on Nov. 19, and in Europe on Nov. 20.
