'Star Wars: Battlefront' DLC release date rumors: 'Outer Rim' to come out this month

After the release of the "Battle of Jakku" free update last month, "Star Wars: Battlefront" players are already waiting for official news from EA about the release of the game's first digital expansion pack,"Outer Rim."

In announcing the February update, the game publisher revealed that players have a lot to look forward to in March.

"Expect more in March including free updates and the launch of our first digital expansion pack to give you more of the content you love – more maps, weapons, and heroes, and an all-new mode. The Star Wars™ Battlefront™ Outer Rim expansion pack will allow you to fight among the factories of Sullust and battle within Jabba the Hutt's palace on Tatooine," the game publisher revealed on the game's official website.

But the game development and publishing company has yet to reveal added details about the upcoming DLC, as well as its official release date despite constant inquiries from fans on various social media sites. On Twitter, reps from EA revealed that they will release more information about the upcoming DLC in the coming days.

The "Star Wars: Battlefront" "Outer Rim" DLC is part of the four upcoming expansion packs that are included in the game's Season Pass, which can be purchased for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One for $50.

Aside from "Outer Rim," EA will also release the action-packed survival arc that is set in Bespin's Cloud City via the expansion pack called "Bespin," which is set to come out in summer this year. Then in fall, the "Death Star" DLC is set to be released. The fourth but still-untitled DLC pack is scheduled to come out in early 2017.

But before any announcements about the upcoming DLC release, EA community manager Mat Everett revealed on Twitter that a free content update will be released in March, right before the "Outer Rim" DLC comes out in the market.
