The end of the year will be the sweetest for "Star Wars" fans, especially for those who play "Star Wars Battlefront" as they will get some exciting downloadable content (DLC) for the game.

"Rogue One: Scarif," the expansion inspired by the highly anticipated spinoff film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will be released earlier than expected.

Instead of the initial 2017 launch that was announced a while back, the highly anticipated "Star Wars Battlefront" DLC will be released this December, the same month the movie is hitting the theaters.

The description that Electronic Arts wrote on their website about the expansion pack reads: "You'll be able to discover characters, maps, and more from the upcoming movie in this exciting new digital expansion, featuring the tropical planet of Scarif. Prepare to band together on the battlefront for an epic Star Wars adventure."

Fans will likely learn more about the "Star Wars Battlefront" DLC after the film premieres. That way, they will have a better picture of the setting of the "Rogue One: Scarif" expansion.

The "Rogue One: Scarif" DLC will not be the only treat waiting for "Star Wars Battlefront" players by the end of the year. The holidays will also bring the "Rogue One: X-wing VR Mission."

Set to be available for free to all players, the DLC will be released to the PlayStation VR (Virtual Reality) and will give fans the chance to finally experience the thrill and adrenaline rush of piloting an X-wing.

EA also announced an Ultimate Edition for "Star Wars Battlefront," to celebrate the first year anniversary of the hit action shooter video game.

This edition, set for release next month, will come with the "Star Wars Battlefront Deluxe Edition" and all the content released and set to be released for the game, and that includes "Rogue One Scarif."

The other DLCs include the "Outer Rim," "Bespin," and the latest, which is "Death Star."
