'Star Wars: Battlefront' release details: design director reveals reason for reboot

It is still a few months away before the reboot version of "Star Wars: Battlefront" comes out, but more and more details about the game are being revealed to increase fans' interest.  

In his letter for all "Star Wars" fans posted on the official EA website, "Star Wars: Battlefront" design director Niklas Fegraeus explained the decision to release a reboot instead of developing a new sequel for the series. He also talked about their trajectory plans for the game, which will have a new direction, more capabilities, and new features that were not offered when the first version was released in 2004.

According to Fegraeus, "The reason is quite simple: we want to pay homage to this beloved franchise, while making our own stamp for a new generation. The way we want to do this is by taking inspiration from the old games' foundations, like the use of both 1st and 3rd person views and the ability to play as heroes. We want to then create a new direction where we add features and capabilities you've never seen before." 

Meanwhile, Movie Pilot discussed the gameplay of the upcoming game. The article mentioned that "Star Wars: Battlefront" will primarily be a multiplayer game, where specific missions featuring mainly bot opponents can be tackled. It will also come with 12 maps located all over Hoth, Tatooine, Endor, as well as the still unexplored Sullust. 

On the other hand, OverMental listed down the types of playable vehicles, including the Incom T-64 X-Wing Starfighter, the Millennium Falcon (YT-1300 Corellian Light Freighter), as well as the T-47 airspeeder (Snowspeeders) for the rebels. Meanwhile, the Empire can drive the TIE Fighter, the AT-ST (All Terrain Scout Transport), AT-AT (All Terrain Armored Transport), and the Speeder Bike. 

"Star Wars: Battlefront" will be released by EA Games for multiple platforms like PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC beginning Nov. 17.
