Earlier this week, news surfaced that the action shooter video game "Star Wars: Battlefront II" is not going to have a season pass available to premium players. However, a day after the report spread, Entertainment Arts (EA) reached out to withhold this information.

Bernd Diemer, creative director of "Star Wars: Battlefront II," revealed in an interview with Mashable that there will be no season pass for the game.

He explained, "We decided on that, and it's one of those difficult decisions because it has so many implications all around. When we looked at the way 'Battlefront' had evolved over its lifetime, with the DLC and everything, we decided, 'You know what? For this type of game, season passes are not the best thing. We need to [take it apart] and come up with something better."

He also indicated that they do not want to create segments among its players, where owners of the season pass can access other modes, while those who were unable to purchase will not be able to play it. Diemer admitted that such instances are "dangerous" to the community and they want to avoid this for "Star Wars: Battlefront II."

The company's intent is definitely to make it better for its community of players. However, the news seems to be perceived negatively, as it has caused some disagreement among the players of "Star Wars: Battlefront II." With this, EA has reached out to Mashable to retract Diemer's earlier statement.

At this point, they are still uncertain what would replace the season pass but assure fans that they are looking into other options.

In a clarification statement in the same Mashable report, EA said, "While we're not ready to confirm any live service plans just yet, what we can say is this we heard the feedback from our 'Battlefront' community loud and clear."

"We know they want more depth, more progression, and more content. So we're focused on delivering that in every dimension of 'Star Wars Battlefront II.'"

They promised to share more details about their plans soon.
