'Star Wars Battlefront' release: new character revealed

"Star Wars: Battlefront" will be getting a new character for its line-up. However, it seems that the most recent addition to the title will not be a perfect fit to the fighters' roster.

The new addition, C-3PO, is known to many fans of the "Star Wars" franchise. The protocol droid is not that much of a fighter, and is actually considered to be one of the weakest characters in the fantasy universe. However, it is not yet clear on whether C-3PO will indeed be playable as a fighter. Most observers say that the robot may instead act as a guide for new players, a narrator that will be teaching players the different aspects of the game via a tutorial.

C-3PO joins other names in the massive "Star Wars" universe such as Darth Vader and Boba Fett as confirmed characters for the upcoming open-world role-playing game from DICE. Most fans of the series also say that since C-3PO has already been confirmed, it follows that the robot's partner, the droid R2-D2, may also be included.

Meanwhile, the role-playing fantasy game will also offer character customization. While this is already a standard in most RPG and open-world exploration titles, DICE is restricting the amount of customization for the different characters to stay true to the design of the "Star Wars" franchise. For example, a Darth Vader-like character may have restrictions on the colors of the armor, or Stormtroopers need to have a complete set of gear and weapons that would only be available for their class. DICE has not provided any specific details on how heavy or light customization will be allowed.

Since "Star Wars: Battlefront" will be fully released in November, the developer may be gearing up for some major details or additional character announcements in the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo event this month.
