'Star Wars Battlefront' news: No 'Force Awakens' DLC expected to be featured in the game

Fans should probably not expect "Star Wars Battlefront" to feature any kind of new content taking inspiration from "The Force Awakens."

This looks to be the case after a fan recently posed a question to the game's official Twitter account wondering whether "Star Wars Battlefront" would be featuring any downloadable content (DLC) based on the recently released film.

In response to the question, the game's official Twitter account replied by indicating that "Star Wars Battlefront" would be focused more on the original "Star Wars" trilogy, which, in other words, would seem to be no, according to Destructoid.

Exactly why "Star Wars Battlefront" will not be featuring any new content based on "The Force Awakens" would seem to be a question worth pondering on, especially since the game already showcased one of the film's locations in the Battle of Jakku map. Still, the Battle of Jakku map features a setting not exactly in sync with the movie's timeline, so it's not really based on the movie, as Screen Rant pointed out.

In reality, the real reason behind why "Star Wars Battlefront" may not feature any "Episode VII" content could be a very simple one.

If Electronic Arts and DICE will not be including any "The Force Awakens" content now, then that may simply mean that they have that in mind for future games.

According to GameSpot, EA already has sequels in mind for "Star Wars Battlefront" and it would not be all that surprising if at least one of those games features some kind of content based on the recently released film.

Still, even without "The Force Awakens" DLC being offered in "Star Wars Battlefront," fans can still look forward to more items coming to the game in 2016. Such include additional game modes, maps, weapons, vehicles, and even some playable characters that could help make the game even better in the new year.
