'Star Wars Episode 7' plot spoilers, latest news: Rumors excite fans

Fans continue to clamour for more details six months before the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Less than six months before the first "Star Wars" movie in ten years hits cinemas worldwide, fans continue to look for any crumbs regarding new characters, themes and plot lines from numerous "sources" in the Internet.

Rumors intensified when new toys and collectibles of "The Force Awakens" hit the market, giving tantalizing clues that made people double guess if what they already know about the movie is legit or not.

The entire "Star Wars" team is certainly keeping the new movie under wrap. Even the production budget is a well-kept secret.

Lawrence Kasdan, co-writer of "The Force Awakens," did give fans something to speculate about in his interview with Vanity Fair

It was already announced, to the delight of "Star Wars" longtime followers, that franchise veterans Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher will be reprising their iconic roles of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia for the first time in over three decades.

Kasdan hinted that the characters of Luke and Han may serve as mentors to help and guide the film's younger protagonists on their adventures.

Hamill himself concurred in an interview with LA Times that the new characters of "The Force Awakens" would be the "primary focus" of the movie.

"I would have been completely okay with it not including us, but I do think having the original cast members there gives it a sense of continuity and scope. But mind you, it's really about the new generation, it's not about us."

Certainly, much of the marketing so far has placed Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) in the spotlight.

Another prevailing theory in the movie is that Rey, whose last name remains a secret, is the daughter of Han and Leia. But Making Star Wars already put a lid on the idea, claiming that none of the new hero characters are Solo's or Skywalker's.

The rumor mill even says that Kylo Ren is Han's son, but all of these hints are just speculation. Perhaps fans will get more details from Disney as it brings "Star Wars" to San Diego Comic-Con next month.

One thing that fans can be sure about, however, is that Billy Dee Williams will not be returning as Lando Calrissian in "The Force Awakens."

"Right now, there's no Lando Calrissian in this movie. But Lando I don't think is finished in any way, shape, or form," confirmed Kasdan.
