The spin-off movie featuring Han Solo already had a male lead in Alden Ehrenreich, but the film might finally have a female star in the coming days.

Variety exclusively revealed that three actresses are being considered to play the role of the female lead in the still unnamed project under the "Star Wars" movie franchise. The names include "Creed" star Tessa Thompson, "The Divergent Series" star Zoe Kravitz, as well as Naomi Scott from the upcoming "Power Rangers" movie.

According to the report, directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are still taking their time before they decide who among the actresses will fill in the role of the mysterious female lead. They are also looking to cast the role of Lando Calrissian before the filming starts in early 2017.

Donald Glover is reportedly the top choice to portray the role of Lando Calrissian in the movie, but several reports claimed that Lucasfilm and Disney are still planning to conduct a second round of tests in order to be sure that the "Atlanta" star is the right fit for the role that used to be portrayed by Billy Dee Williams in the previous "Star Wars" movies.

Meanwhile, the directors explained to USA Today why they chose Ehrenreich to play the part of the Rebel Alliance general in the upcoming spin-off movie.

"That guy pretty much went through an audition pentathlon; it was like an acting steeplechase," the filmmakers said. "He went against a lot of very strong competitors and was very consistently the guy from minute one. He was the first person who auditioned out of thousands, and just out of the box, made you believe that someday he'd grow into the character we know," they added.

Ehrenreich will be the second actor to portray Han Solo, and he will play the younger version of the beloved "Star Wars" character in the movies. Harrison Ford was the first one who portrayed the character in previous films.

The stand-alone Han Solo movie is expected to be released in theaters on May 25, 2018.
