"Star Wars Rebels" season 3 might be the most exciting season of the animated series yet. This season, the show is expected to have connections with future "Star Wars" movies.

This was teased by executive producer Simon Kinberg during an interview with Moviefone. While he did not elaborate much on the idea, the confirmation is enough to have the fanbase on overdrive.

"What's lovely is, obviously, we've brought in characters from Clone Wars in the second season, and we keep sort of bringing characters from the original movies and sort of deepening the relationships between our core characters, the Ghost crew," Kinberg stated.

"So it's trying to balance the two different things, like the original cast from the first season with Clone Wars, with characters from the original movies, and maybe even feeding into future movies," he revealed.

According to Gizmodo, fans should not expect big connections such as something having to do with Rey's parentage or the true identity of Snoke.

The publication believes that in "Star Wars Rebels" season 3, the show will play with the idea of "Star Wars: Rogue One," where Saw Gerrera from "The Clone Wars" is featured with Forest Whitaker playing the role.

There is a possibility that the characters of Laura Dern or Benicio Del Toro from "Star Wars: Episode 8" will be featured at some point in "Star Wars Rebels" season 3.

A lot of characters have popped up here in there in "Star Wars Rebels." The likes of C-3PO, Princess Leia and Darth Vader have all made an appearance at some point on the show.

That being said, it can be expected that a biggie from future "Star Wars" movies may end up being featured in "Star Wars Rebels" season 3.

For now, the identity of the character or the storyline to be included in the show's upcoming season is still a big mystery. Luckily for fans, they will only need to wait until July 16 to check back in on the show.
