With "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" set to hit theaters next month, Mark Hamill, who plays the character of Luke Skywalker in the upcoming film, has asked fans on Twitter to keep whatever happens on "The Last Jedi" a secret for as long as possible.

On his Twitter account, Hamill wrote "The #WaitForVIII is nearly over! Let me take this opportunity to personally ask you to keep all that happens in #TheLastJedi a secret for as long as is humanly possible."

The "Star Wars" franchise has always been known for dramatic reveals such as the shocking paternity confession of Darth Vader to Luke Skywalker from the original trilogy in "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back," where Vader admits to being Luke's father. Hamill's tweet could be a tease to a big revelation in "The Last Jedi."

After Hamill's plea to the franchise's fans on Twitter, several conspiracy theorists have come up and presented speculations for the upcoming film. Many of the theories center on shocking familial revelations and even potential characters turning to the dark side. This is in line with the latest trailer for "The Last Jedi" in which Rey, the main character from "The Force Awakens," is seemingly tempted to join the dark side.

Hamill himself has addressed a theory that has been around for a while speculating that his character is a secret villain. The idea behind this speculation is that in the previous film posters in the franchise, the villains were always looming in the background which is where Luke Skywalker is positioned in the promotional poster for "The Last Jedi."

In a previous tweet, Hamill noted that Luke has always been the villain saying "NEWS FLASH for all you "Villains Looming at the Back of Posters" theorists: Luke was ALWAYS been the villain! (from a certain point of view)"

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will premiere on Dec. 9 in Los Angeles, California.
