Ever since Daisy Ridley debuted as Rey in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," her character's origin has been a major question on everyone's mind. Lucasfilm has made a good job so far of keeping her real identity secret, but one actor may have just answered the mystery a couple of weeks before "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" premieres.

Adam Driver, who plays Kylo Ren in the new saga, discussed several things related to "The Last Jedi" with GQ, including his character and Rey. After giving his insights on Kylo's personality, he turned his attention to the Jakku scavenger and seemingly suggested that she is of royal blood.

"You have, also, the hidden identity of this princess who's hiding who she really is so she can survive and Kylo Ren and her hiding behind these artifices," he said.

Inverse explains that Driver may have been referring to the lost princess in the Akira Kurosawa film "The Hidden Fortress" which inspired George Lucas' space saga. In the Japanese classic, Princess Yuki Akizuki pretends to be mute in order to hide her identity. Still, using the word "princess" in that context hints at Rey being royalty.

If she is indeed a princess in hiding, the possibility of Obi-Wan Kenobi being her father just got more unlikely. It also somehow excludes Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) from the list since there are no indications of the character loving someone as much as he loves power. That leaves the Skywalker twins, Luke (Mark Hamill) and Leia (Carrie Fisher), the most likely candidates. They were both children of a former Queen, after all.

Whichever character it is, the big parents reveal will be a poignant scene in the movie. Ridley recalled how emotional she got when she first read the moment of Rey's parents being revealed in "The Last Jedi." Obviously, she could not divulge too much, but she hopes "everyone will enjoy it."

"I knew the answer a few years ago, but the story that Rian Johnson created was so wonderful I couldn't believe it, honestly I was very moved," she teased. "I think that everyone will be in that moment."

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" opens in cinemas on Dec. 15, 2017.
