'Starcraft II': Patch 3.0 notes released by Blizzard

Blizzard

Game industry giant Blizzard has announced the changes introduced with Patch 3.0 of "Starcraft II." One of the most noted features for the update is that the free prologue missions, which will bridge the events between "Heart of the Swarm" and the upcoming "Legacy of the Void," are now available.

According to the patch notes posted on the game's Battle.net launcher, updates to the game will include the "Whispers of Oblivion" pack. This pack consists of three missions that focus on Zeratul and explain the events after the "Heart of the Swarm" expansion and leading to the upcoming "Legacy of the Void."

In addition to unlocking the "Whispers of Oblivion" prologue pack, Patch 3.0 will also introduce a much convenient download for all "Starfcraft II" expansions, with each of the previous two having their own campaign screens, and another screen for the pre-purchase of "Legacy of Void." These expansions are independent of one another, meaning that casual players can just purchase and instantly play the new expansion without ordering the previous ones.

Patch 3.0 notes also lists the massive changes and improvements to the user interface. In addition to the improvements to the UI, the new patch will roll out improvements in the gameplay, such as adjustments to worker counts, battle and targeting selections, and hotkeys. Also, the updated gameplay includes an introduction of the "Alt + number" grouping selections.

As with other updates, the new patch will also introduce different bug fixes for the game, such as ones for disconnections in the middle of a live game, failing autosaves, and CPU performance issues.

While the new update has yet to have its own release date, its newest expansion, "Legacy of the Void," -- which is considered as the last chapter in the "Starcraft II" trilogy -- is already scheduled to be released on Nov. 10.
