The popular farming and life simulator game "Stardew Valley" is preparing to release its multiplayer beta by the end of 2017. Unfortunately for excited fans, the multiplayer feature has been pushed back sometime in early 2018.

On Dec. 8, Chucklefish (the game's publisher) created a blog post regarding the delay.

"So, multiplayer is coming along nicely! Tom is working on implementing marriage between players, and recently finished up working on festivals." Chucklefish reported on the multiplayer mode's progress before adding that they had initially planned to release the beta before 2017 ended.

However, they pushed it back to 2018, so they would have extra time to polish the game. The "Stardew Valley" team wanted to make the game as polished as possible — resulting in the short delay. Aside from the announcement regarding "Stardew Vally's" upcoming multiplayer, Chucklefish also provided an overview of the possible things that will unfold along with the new content.

Chucklefish also uploaded a picture of what appeared to be the interior of a submarine or an underwater room. Before that, Chucklefish uploaded an image of a boat — a few months back. The boat was reported to be a new singleplayer update, leading fans to speculate on whether or not Stardew Valley would be getting a new underwater area or a new form of transportation.

No specific dates regarding the release have been shared as of yet. No specific updates regarding the new content have been given either—making the picture of the boat and the underwater room even more mysterious.

"Stardew Valley" was first released on Feb. 27, 2016. Developed by Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone. The game places a lot of emphasis on the mechanics of the game. For one, after the death of their grandfather, the protagonist inherits his farmland and sets off for "Stardew Valley" to start a new life.

Reminiscent of older farming simulation games such as "Harvest Moon," is on the rise. For the enthusiasts, the game gained popularity and even went on to become one of Steam's best-selling games in 2016.
