Gamers are now waiting for a confirmation from Valve, the company behind the digital distribution website known as Steam, if its scheduled summer sale for this year will happen from June 23 till July 4. This was the period mentioned by a Reddit user named MrFreemanBBQ, who leaked the information.

The post includes a screen-captured image of a confidential message in English and a few words in Russian. It also includes the time at which the sale will start, at 9:45 a.m. PT, and its end, at 10 a.m. PT on the dates mentioned, respectively. The particular message is believed to be officially from Valve.

Tech Times reported that the original posting was made on a Russian social network site called VK. The same Reddit user was also responsible for previous leaked information on other Valve sale events. These include the summer sale of 2012 and the holiday sale of 2013.

Steam seems to be have bad days when it comes to release dates. Prior to the latest incident, the company accidentally revealed the release date of "The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine" expansion pack. It was rumored to have a June 7 release, but the accidental posting of the DLC showed that it has a May 30 release.

Last year, the company's winter sale announcement was ruined by PayPal, one of the biggest payment portals, when it posted Steam's promo a week early.

Many game fans are looking forward to Steam's annual summer sale, which offers great big discounts on games. These games are mostly offered to desktop users of Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux. Very limited options are available for the PlayStation 3, iOS and Android users, though they have their own respective distribution sites.

Steam started back in September 2003 and has grown to be the largest distribution platform for PC gaming with over 5,000 Windows-based games and more than 2,000 OS X games and around 1,500 Linux games. The company has more than 125 million active users.
