With all the mysteries surrounding the town of Hawkins, it's a given that a character will try to unearth the town's secrets in the second season of Netflix's hit series "Stranger Things."

According to a report by IBTimes, actor Brett Gelman ("Eagleheart) will play disgraced journalist Murray Bauman who has become a conspiracy theorist that arrives in Hawkins to work on a lead for a cold case.

Executive Producer Shawn Levy teased that fans of the show should watch out for what the new additions to the cast will bring to the table when the season picks up a year after the events of the first season.

"There's definitely a handful of really compelling new characters this season, but absolutely servicing the core group first and foremost. Like the show itself, it's multigenerational new characters and really, really intriguing ones," he said in an interview.

A report by Game and Guide suggested that Gelman could be investigating the experiments conducted on Terry Ives (Aimee Mullins), who was pregnant with her daughter Jane at the time of the trial.

Jane who eventually became known as Eleven (Millie Bobbie Brown) was taken from her and was eventually "adopted" by Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) to explore her psychic powers at the Hawkins Laboratory.

Aside from Gelman, the show has also drafted Linnea Berthelsen ("Teenland"), Sean Astin ("Lord Of The Rings") and Paul Reiser ("Whiplash") to the cast.

Berthelsen will play Roman, who, despite not living in Hawkins, shares a connection with the events at the lab. Paul Reiser will plays Dr. Owens, who is described as "a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a 'clean-up' assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year."

It is unsure if Modine's Dr. Brenner will still return to the series for its sophomore season.

Austin, on the other hand, will play Bob Newby who operates the Hawkins RadioShack and knows Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour) and Joyce (Winona Ryder) from high school. He is expected to help the kids on their new adventure by providing them with the gadgets that they need for their mission.
