From Winona Ryder's epic performance as Will Byer's (Noah Schnapp) mother to Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) tear-inducing one-liners, the first season of "Stranger Things" was a huge success that nobody, not even the producers, expected. Now on track for the second season, the hype has executive producer Shaw Levy sharing juicy details on what fans can expect this Halloween.

"I have to tell you, we had a sense that the show was unique and that it was cool. We had no idea whether people would watch, whether it would be embraced by the fancies, if you will," Levy told CNN.

Judging by the awards that "Stranger Things" has walked away with, Levy and the cast may have been just as surprised as the fans were when they were introduced to the terrifying Upside Down.

At the end of the first season of "Stranger Things," Ryder's character Joyce Byers may have been the happiest mother in the world when she found out that Will was actually alive. Having spent most of the first season in another dimension, the second season of "Stranger Things" will feature what happens after such a traumatizing experience.

"Trauma is a major theme and frankly the return to normalcy," Levy said. "Is normal ever possible again in Hawkins [Indiana]? In the Byers family? In the Wheeler family? ... That's a big question that looms over season 2."

Having said that, fans can expect to see more of Will in the second season and how the dynamic between him and his friends will change after being missing and once Eleven makes it back to the team.

As Will-centric as the second season of "Stranger Things" may be, Levy reminds the fans that he has always operated under the rule that the characters of the story should be put above all else, including the genre.

"As much density of story as our show has, we have to service the characters — and the moments and relationships between characters — above everything," he told Mashable.

Considering that Eleven has been through some pretty traumatizing experiences herself, will she be able to move forward and make it back to Will, Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin)?

Judging by Levy's statements, it's not a far-off theory. With Eleven being such a lovable character, fans can only expect that she'll eventually make it back, with or without the help of Officer Jim Hopper (David Harbour).

"Stranger Things" season 2 will air its nine episodes on Netflix on Oct. 31.
