It has only been a few days since "Stranger Things" season 2 dropped at Netflix, but fans are already itching to find out what happens next to Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and the Hawkins gang. Fortunately, there is already a ton of details out there on what is in store for "Stranger Things" season 3.

The new season ended with Eleven closing the gateway between their world and the Upside Down. However, with the Mind Flayer still alive and looming over Hawkins Middle School in the upside down, it does not mean that the citizens of the town are safe.

Series creator Ross Duffer told The Hollywood Reporter, now that the monster is aware of the kids, they become pretty much its new target, especially Eleven. "It had not encountered her and her powers until that final episode. Now, it knows that she's out there," he said. "We wanted to end on a little bit of an ominous note on that level."

It looks like the Mind Flayer is plotting for revenge. However, the humanoid creature with an octopus-like tentacle face may not be the only threat returning in season 3. The nefarious Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) may also reappear next season.

A research scientist in Hawkins Lab, Modine's character served as season 1's antagonist. He was seemingly killed by the Demogorgon during the final face-off at Hawkins High, but "Stranger Things" producer Shawn Levy confirmed to Collider that he is still very much alive. 

Speaking about the divisive seventh episode of season 2, he said "...the Duffers want to take some swings, and they know that they're not gonna please everybody. But that feeling of the world getting a bit bigger especially coupled with the fact that it now seems clear that Brenner is alive, Brenner is out there."

That does not sound good for the gang. However, the show is compensating the villains' return by bringing back some season 2 favorites as well. Linnea Berthelsen's Kali, also known as Eight, is expected to reprise her role next season, as well as Priah Ferguson, the one-liner Queen Erica Sinclair, who was promised to have more scenes in the future.

There might also be hope for Bob (Sean Astin) somehow. Co-creator Matt Duffer said in an interview that he would love to revisit the character. In fact, he already has some ideas, but with him dying this season, he is not sure how to make it happen.

The Duffers confirmed that "Stranger Things" season 3 would feature another time jump like its sophomore run, picking up one year after the recent events. There is no official release date at this point, but it is expected to return in early 2019.
