'Street Fighter 5' DLC characters: Next big update rolls out this week

Capcom Unity Blog

Fans can look forward to the end of the month, as Capcom has revealed that a major update is coming out for its latest franchise installment, "Street Fighter 5."

In an announcement posted on the Capcom blog, the publisher revealed more details on the upcoming new update, and by the looks of things, players can expect some major changes and improvements when the new update is released this week.

According to the post, one major change that comes with the update is a faster and better connection when it comes to matchmaking. Reportedly, the new update will improve the online experience for players as there are faster connections and smarter gameplays for the online content. Meanwhile, issues with online matchmaking will also be addressed with the new update.

Aside from the matchmaking improvements, the new update will also unlock new in-game expansion content such as new characters and costume sets, and there are new stages as well. This is in addition to the new Story Mode "A Shadow Falls," and unlocking Ibuki as the new DLC character. Much like previous expansion items, the new characters, costumes, and stages can be had through either Fight Money or real-world purchases. For example, new characters can be unlocked by paying 100,000 Fight Money credits, or purchasing the content on the PlayStation Store and Steam for $5.99.

The new update is only the beginning for "Street Fighter V," as Capcom claimed at the recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo. The publisher has already heard of the negative feedback from hardcore fans due to the issues of the game, including delayed releases.

As for the June update coming out later than expected, senior product manager Matt Dahlgren tells Gamespot, "I don't think we have complete specifics on what it allowed us to achieve. The character just wasn't ready to deploy at that time frame. We needed to ensure that the quality was going to be as high as possible and felt like the June update timeframe was better timing for our release."
