Capcom will be adding six new characters to play for "Street Fighter V." The addition of characters has been long requested by fans.

The news was announced during the final day of Capcom Cup 2017. As part of "Street Fighter V's" third season, Capcom will be adding six new characters for the game.

These include returning characters Sakura and Cody. Both the characters made their debut during Capcom's alpha series of "Street Fighter V."

The characters Sagat and Blanka will also be added in "Street Fighter V." Both the characters debuted in Capcom's "Street Fighter 2."

Additionally, Capcom will be adding two new characters to the game: G, a bearded man who is wearing a huge top hat and looks like a president, and Falke, a female fighter who bears close resemblance to the existing character, Ed.

The six new character additions to "Street Fighter V" were actually a surprise to those who were at the Capcom Cup 2017. Fans were used to Capcom's tradition of individually revealing characters as opposed to a complete lineup reveal.

According to Polygon, Sakura will be available on Jan. 16, 2018 — the same date as the "Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition" release. "Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition" will be Capcom's flagship fighting game and will be released on the PlayStation 4 and PC.

Capcom will also be releasing Story, Battle, and Nostalgia costumes for Sakura as well. Similarly, Capcom added a new stage mad specifically for Sakura — "Kusagano Residence." Such was inspired by her Alpha 2 stage.

Capcom has so far not made any hints regarding other characters' release dates. It is speculated that they will come soon after "Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition" gets released.

"Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection" was also announced by Capcom during the cup. The collection will have 12 games from the series, including the original "Street Fighter," "Street Fighter 2," and "Street Fighter 3: Third Strike."
