'Suicide Squad' trailer features new Easter eggs

Warner Bros. Pictures

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first full-length trailer for "Suicide Squad" and the clip does give a good look at the titular villains. A report from Screen Rant, however, points out a few Easter eggs that fans may have missed and these Easter eggs give a good hint at the film's plot and series of events.

One of the key shots in the trailer showcases the Joker (Jared Leto) holding Dr. Harleen Quinzel (Margot Robbie) in a pool of dirty water. It is pointed out that this may be the scene showcasing the birth of Harley Quinn. Fans of the comic books will recall that Quinzel lost her mind after being tortured by the Joker and only after gaining the moniker of Harley Quinn did she become a true villainous psychopath.

Another key Easter egg is a quick shot of several doctors around a surgery table. Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) is then seen bring brought in for surgery. This is hinted to be the scene where the Suicide Squad members are given bomb implants in their heads, ensuring that they will do exactly as Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) wants.

The trailer also reveals the role that actor and comedian Ike Barinholtz has taken on for the film. Previously rumored to play Doctor Hugo, the trailer showcases he is in fact a prison guard currently referred to as "Alpha 01." He is seen torturing the Suicide Squad inmates and later shares a scene with the Joker where the latter tells him about his "toys."

Actor Jim Parrack also makes an appearance in the trailer and only eagle-eyed fans will recognize him. He is shown firing a powerful turret gun and his patch reveals him to be Mr. Frost, likely to be Jonny Frost. Frost is known as one of the Joker's more notable henchmen and the report points out he may be the one responsible for shooting down the helicopter.

"Suicide Squad" opens in theaters this coming Aug. 5.
