'Suits' season 5 spoilers, cast news: Charles Barkley becomes Harvey's client in episode 3

Charles Barkley and Gabriel Macht in Suits Season 5 USA Network

Changes are coming for Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and the Pearson Specter Litt law office when "Suits" returns for its fifth season.

It has been recently announced that former NBA star Charles Barkley will revisit his occasional acting career in the third episode of "Suits" season 5 titled "Buried Secrets." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Barkley will appear as himself, albeit a more polished version. He will be one of Harvey's clients who will also help him get out of a sticky situation with one of his non-name partners. However, things will apparently get out of hand.

The "Inside the NBA" host has been very vocal about his love for the legal drama, while series creator Aaron Korsh said that he is one of the biggest fans of Barkley since his playing days in the NBA. When Korsh found out that Barkley wants to be on the show, he immediately reached out to the 52-year-old athlete to invite him to Canada to appear in a cameo role.

Barkley, on the other hand, was equally thrilled when he received the invitation. Despite his very hectic schedule, the NBA legend immediately accepted the role.

"It's really cool for me, because when they heard me bragging about the show they invited me and I was like, 'I gotta make it work,' " Barkley shared. "Right now with playoffs we're in our busy time and the only day we have off is Friday. I was like, 'I don't give a s**t. My day off, we're going up there to Toronto.'"

Barkley's acting chops was first seen when he appeared in 1996 live-action/animated film "Space Jam" with fellow NBA stars like Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, and Larry Bird, as well as in several episodes of "Saturday Night Live."

"Suits" will return on June 24 on the USA Network. Season 5 will have 16 episodes.
