'Suits' plot spoilers update: Creator had written Meghan Markle's character out of the series last year

The creator of USA's legal drama series "Suits," Aaron Kosh, admitted that Meghan Markle, who plays Rachel Zane, was written to leave the show a year ago, ahead of the engagement rumors.

Even before the engagement had happened, Kosh, in an interview with BBC, revealed that he got a wind of the blossoming romance between the 36-year-old romance and Prince Harry. "I had a decision to make because I didn't want to intrude and ask her, 'Hey, what's going on and what are you going to do?'" he said.

After careful deliberation, Kosh said they decided to just exit Markle's character off the show, betting against all odds that Markle and Prince Harry's relationship will work out. Aside from this, Kosh revealed that they had planned for her departure as it was easier to build upon that and was much easier to undo.

So clearly, fans were not the only ones who had foreseen the serious relationship between Prince Harry and Markle. "Suits" execs also had a hunch that their romance will further develop.

Also, Kosh did not want to keep the promise to "Suits'" audience that Markle would be forever in the show. In usual storyline for exits of characters of shows, the character would die because of illness or an accident.

But for Markle's character, Rachel will marry Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams. This just confirms rumors that the wedding scene spotted by fans in the Toronto set was hinting at Markle's departure from the show. The marriage between Mike and Rachel could very well be the fitting exit for the two, as Adams will also reportedly not return for the eighth season of "Suits" to focus on another career path.

Markle, who had been in the show since its 2011 release, was heavily speculated to leave the series before its eighth season. It was confirmed after USA network made the announcement recently.
