The summer finale of "Suits" ended with a shocking cliffhanger as Mike (Patrick J. Adams) got arrested just as he was about to start over and live a new life with his fiancée Rachel (Meghan Markle). When the show returns next year, the impact of Mike's arrest will be felt not only by those who love him, but also by the people who worked with him during the past five years.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, creator and showrunner Aaron Korsch said that Harvey (Gabriel Macht) is one of those who will be affected by what happened to Mike. It can be recalled that during the midseason finale, Harvey pulled a shocking move when he handed his resignation to save the firm from a takeover.

"Harvey may have just resigned, but he's going to question whether he should still go forward with that in the light of this new thing," said Korsch. "Once Mike gets arrested, it's like you're circling the wagons figuring out what's the next order of business."

Certainly, Mike's arrest was inevitable as someone was bound to find out sooner or later that he has been pretending to be a lawyer in all the five years that he was working in the firm. Kosch said that he and the writers decided that Mike should be arrested "at the end of season four or the beginning of season 5" and at some point, they thought that instead of having one person find out about his secret, they decided that they wanted him to be found out about by everyone.

As for Rachel, it remains to be seen how she will respond to the fact that her fiancé was arrested for being a fraud, and Korsch said that he's not sure of what their fate is when the show returns.

The show will pick up right where it left off during the season finale, so fans will see how everyone will react to Mike's arrest and what this means for Harvey, Rachel, and everyone else.

"Suits" returns to USA Network in early 2016.
