'Suits' season 6 news: Season won't feature time jump, predicted to premiere in June

USA Network

"Suits" season 5 ended rather abruptly on a cliffhanger, with Mike (Patrick J. Adams) going to jail after pleading guilty, despite Harvey's (Gabriel Macht) efforts to stop this from happening. According to the Hollywood Reporter, season 6 will continue this story and will not feature a time jump in the pemiere.

"We're coming back right where we left off," stated showrunner Aaron Korsh. "Much of the time when we land on a huge, earth-shattering event in our world, we contemplate a time jump. It's probably just the way I think about things, but I always end up feeling like if we're just going to time-jump out of it, what was the purpose of ending there?"

Korsh continues to explain that season 6 will start on the same night season 5 ended, showcasing Mike's first night in prison and the first time Harvey and the team go back to the firm in defeat. The showrunner stated that there was the concept to use flashbacks and a time jump but then this was foregone in order to just the tell the story chronologically.

During the interview, it was also revealed the premiere episode will tackle the firm's plans moving forward. Harvey and the team will need to decide whether they want to stick together and keep fighting as a team or if this is the time they'll need to go their separate ways.

Mike is also said to take on his new situation rather quickly and the whole circumstance of Mike rising and falling was compared to that of a politician running in an electorial campaign, hinting that at some point in season 6 Mike will be able to regain his footing and get out of prison.

Unfortunately, no specific release date for "Suits" season 6 has been released but it is stated in a report from the IB Times that the season is most likely going to premiere in June or July given that previous seasons in the franchise premiered around those months.
