'Suits' season 5B: New promo shows Mike going to jail

Things are going to take a turn for the worse for Mike (Patrick J. Adams) when "Suits" returns to USA next month.

In a new promo released on The Hollywood Reporter, Mike is seen getting booked at the prison, and while this is going on U.S. Attorney Anita Gibbs (Leslie Hope) says in an ominous voiceover that if Mike thinks that his friends will get him out of this, then he needs to think again.

"In case you think that your people are rushing down here to bail you out, you've got another thing coming," she said.

Speaking with THR, Adams said that Gibbs is a fascinating character because while fans might think that she's the villain as she comes after Mike and Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and everyone else who was in on Mike's secret, she is also standing by her principles and believes in doing the right thing.

"At the same time, she's doing something in the right," Adams said of Gibbs trying to take down Mike and Harvey. "Mike Ross and Harvey Specter have pulled the wool over the eyes of all the people that they've worked for."

Back in August, show creator Aaron Korsh told THR that the midseason premiere will pick up right after the events of the midseason finale. In the episode which aired four months ago, Mike was arrested for fraud just as he was preparing to start over and live an honest life with his fiancée.

Korsh told the website that the second half of the season will be focused on Mike and how everyone will deal with the fallout from his arrest.

"There's no doubt that will affect every single one of our six from top to bottom," said Korsh. "We're going to get some insights into him on how he handles this from hereon in."

"Suits" returns on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 10 p.m. on USA.
