'Summon Night 6: Lost Borders' update: screenshots and gameplay details

Raj and Magna in Summon Night 6: Lost BordersBandai Namco

Bandai Namco has released a series of new images for "Summon Night 6: Lost Borders" confirmed that the game will see the return of three characters from previous entries in the franchise, reports Gematsu.. Gameplay details were also released, specifically regarding how many characters will be on the field and the new "Connect" feature.

Magna and his guardian beast Hasaha will be joining the main character Raj. Fans of the series will recall Magna as the male lead character from "Summon Night 2," which was originally released for the Playstation One and later remade for the Nintendo DS.

Coming from "Summon Night 3" is the female mage-swordswoman named Aty. Aty, like Magna and Hasaha, hails from Lyndbaum, where she now works as a professor. All three characters will be magically transported to the cocoon world and will journey with Raj as they seek means to return to their world.

"Summon Night 6" is a turn-based tactical RPG, similar to the highly popular "Final Fantasy Tactics." According to the report, the player will be able to take control of eight main characters during battle. But since they can also summon up to four additional support characters, the maximum number for the party increases to 12.

Character classes will also dictate which types of weapons a character can use, and battle will be affected by terrain types and height differences. Summoning and Summon Assists will also be making a return in the game.

One new feature is the "Connect" system, which allows one character to take another character alongside them as they move across the playing field.

The game is set to release in Spring 2016 for the PS4 and PS Vita in Japan, with no localized Western released announced thus far. However, the report does point out that a trademark for the game has been filed in Europe, indicating that an English localization for the game may be in the works.
