'Super Mario Galaxy' news: Game now available on the Wii U

Nintendo

"Super Mario Galaxy" is now available for the Wii U.

The 3D platform that was released years ago is now available for Nintendo's current generation console for $19.99, so fans who have some money to spare from the holidays now have something they can get for themselves.

The Wii U port of "Super Mario Galaxy" is currently available via the Nintendo eShop.

For those who may not be entirely familiar with "Super Mario Galaxy," it's not too different from the standard "Mario" fare, although it does feature some delightful interplanetary sequences for players.

"Super Mario Galaxy" has also been widely regarded as one of the better titles from the franchise, so it's a must have for those who have somehow avoided purchasing it up until now.

It's worth noting that the "Super Mario Galaxy" coming to the Wii U is not actually different from the one that's already available for the older consoles.

As Techno Buffalo noted, it's just a direct port of the game, so fans who may be expecting more scenes in high definition, added features or perhaps more bonus content will sadly be disappointed.

Players who also want to try out the game for the Wii U will also need to have a Wii Remote and its accompanying Nunchuk on hand to get started.

Also, fans who already own the Wii version of "Super Mario Galaxy" no longer need to get the new one for the Wii U. Since the Wii U is backward compatible, they can already play "Super Mario Galaxy" without having to get the new port, NDTV reported.

Still, for those who have yet to secure their copy of the game, the news of the Wii U port should be a pleasant surprise.

Currently, the Wii U port of "Super Mario Galaxy" has not been confirmed to be made available in PAL regions.
