'Super Smash Bros. 4' DLC update: glitch for Pac-Man

Pac-Man as he appears in Super Smash Bros. for the Wii-UNintendo

The latest DLC for "Super Smash Bros." for the Wii-U and 3DS made Ryu from "Street Fighter" and "Roy" from the "Fire Emblem" series playable characters. However, the update also comes with a glitch that makes Pac-Man nearly impossible to defeat.

This glitch only works for the Wii-U version of the game and was first discovered by YouTube user StylesX2. It is unknown how long the glitch has been in the game but it is speculated by fans that it became more apparent with the release of update 1.0.8. that also offered Ryu and Roy as DLC characters.

In order to use this glitch, a player using Pac-Man must use his up-attack in order to lay down a trampoline. Immediately after, the player must jump and change form at an exact moment. If done right, an opponent that walks or lands on the trampoline will fall right through the level and to their death.

Thus far, only a few select characters can escape this instant death such as Jigglypuff and Kirby because of their unique flight abilities. A video posted on iDigital Times shows that even Giga Bowser will fall through the trampoline.

According to a report from TechTimes, this glitch should be addressed prior to the Evolution Championship Series 2015 since "Super Smash Bros." for the Wii-U will be a part of the competition. If the glitch is not yet fixed, then there might be a restriction against using Pac-Man or the character might just be banned from use in the tournament altogether.

EVO 2015 will also feature "Super Smash Bros. Melee" for the Gamecube but not "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" for the Wii as many tournament fighters see the latter as an inferior fighting game to "Melee" and the newest one on the Wii-U.

This glitch is reminiscent of an older issue regarding Mewtwo's custom moves and an older one wherein Yoshi would just continue to expand. Both glitches have been ironed out in subsequent updates.

Fans of the game should give the glitch a try before Nintendo releases a new patch to fix this issue up.
