Although developer Yacht Games has already debunked the rumors, fans are still expecting that Shovel Knight will become one of the characters in "Super Smash Bros."

There were already rumors floating around that "Super Smash Bros." will have additional characters, and with Shovel Knight being one of the winners for the recently concluded Fighter Ballot event, the main character of the side-scroller platform game looks to be a shoo-in as the next fighter. In addition, the speculations were further flamed with the sighting of the Shovel Knight Amiibo as being compatible with "Super Smash Bros."

However, Yacht Games, developer of the "Shovel Knight" series, was quick to dispute the rumor, saying that the list was made in error. Yacht Games said via Twitter, "Appreciate the enthusiasm for the idea, but I believe this listing was made in error."

Although Yacht Games has already confirmed the error, some fans are keen to dispute, even going back as far as saying that Yacht Games also previously denied coming out with Amiibo figure for "Shovel Knight," but the figurine showed up later.

However, although the erroneous listing has been confirmed, it seems Yacht Games still has the last say on the matter. Answering a fan who was clearly disappointed with the rumor being debunked, Yacht Games said, "We can still dream! Maybe it can be real one day."

Meanwhile, not only did "Shovel Knight" make an erroneous appearance as  "Super Smash Bros." Amiibo, but the game itself is also reported to be suffering from setbacks. According to a recent post by the developer, some changes were made to the physical version of the title, with the price going up to $25 from the original $20 price point.

Meanwhile, there were also changes made in the release dates for the retail versions of the "Plague of Shadows" expansion. Copies will now be available on Oct. 30 for Europe, and Nov. 3 for North America. A bit of bad news, though – the planned Xbox One retail version for the game has been cancelled.
