The CW's "Supergirl" has had a smooth run so far until the network's decision to bench it for nine weeks starting February. Now, as the show has also not been picked up for another season yet, fans are starting to get concerned.

As reported previously, the arrival of the new DC show "Black Lighting" has forced "Supergirl" and "Legends of Tomorrow" to share the Monday timeslot for the remainder of the season. The former resumes on Monday, Jan. 15, but will go on hiatus on Feb. 12 for the latter until April 16. New episodes will then air until the season 3 finale, which is scheduled for June 18.

With the show's future still in the bubble, many have taken its hiatus as a sign of its imminent cancellation. However, The CW president Mark Pedowitz assures there is nothing to worry about.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly at the Television Critics Association's (TCA) winter press tour, he said they actually have not renewed anything yet.

"We're not quite ready to do that. We're a couple of weeks out," he explained. "It is only Jan. 7. It's just a question of the board and I getting together and having a discussion about it. We just weren't ready with the holidays and this came just days later."

The CW does typically renew shows during the TCA's winter press tour. It looks like the board has not gotten around to discussing it on time. Still, he is confident all their shows are returning, saying: "We'll get there. I'm confident most of our schedule is coming back."

As for "Supergirl's" hiatus, Pedowitz previously cited fear of "overload." It was not ideal to air all five superhero shows concurrently, so they decided to be creative for a better programming. However, he recently revealed the show was also partly responsible as it was suffering from production issues.

While this is not an official confirmation, this should still relieve fans. Rarely do network presidents go to great lengths to explain that the show is not in danger of being canceled.
