"Supergirl" has since shown Lena Luthor's (Katie McGrath) efforts to separate herself from her family's notorious reputation. The show has put her in situations that could have pushed her in the same direction only to see her return to the light side. However, that might change soon.

In the fifth episode of "Supergirl" season 3, Lena would go head-to-head with Morgan Edge (Adrian Pasdar) who blames her for a lead poisoning incident that affected many children. Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Samantha (Odette Annable) attempt to clear her name. However, before they can resolve the issue, Lena's Luthor side starts to come out, and series lead Benoist says it will have an impact on Lena's friendship with her character.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Benoist explained that "Kara is willing and ready to stand up for her best friend by any means possible." But, "Lena's maybe [on a] slippery slope onto what you could sadly call her birthright."

The actress said the situation has them walking on a fragile balance beam that could collapse anytime, much like what happened to Lex and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin).

McGrath was recently promoted to a series regular, and Lena is now the owner of CatCo Worldwide Media. In the trailer for the next episode, Lena takes the matter into her own hands, pulling out a gun and pointing it to Morgan. In an unexpected twist, however, it seems that Lena is still going to be the one who needs saving. In the closing part of the promo, Lex's sister appears to be aboard a plane that is about to crash.

"Supergirl" season 3 episode 5, titled "Damage," airs on Monday, Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW. It was directed by Kevin Smith — the same guy who helmed the episodes "Supergirl Lives" and "Distant Sun" from last season. Check out the trailer below:
