The next episode of "Supernatural" season 11 will be filled with Christmas cheer in the usual strange and brooding fashion of the series. Titled "The Devil in the Details," the belated holiday installment will make things even more complicated for the Winchester brothers.

For one, in the midseason finale, Dean ended up lip locking with Amara instead of putting an end to her evil reign. It was revealed that the murders she was doing are all part of her scheme to get noticed by her brother, God.

Amara reveals that she and Dean are meant to be together before she disappeared into a wisp of smoke. It looks like it will be more difficult for Dean to battle Amara in the next "Supernatural" season 11 episodes.

The midseason finale also revealed that it is not God who was manifesting himself to Sam but actually Lucifer, who told the hunter that the big man was never with him. Lucifer declares that he is Sam's only hope but it does not look like he came to make things easier.

In the promo for the upcoming "Supernatural" season 11 episode, everyone is in the Christmas spirit. Crowley gushes about getting a Funko Pop version of Sam as a gift while Rowena is dressed up as a reindeer. Lucifer, dressed as Santa, crashed the party.

We Got This Covered suggested that the promo is unique in the sense that Sam and Dean are not the center of it but the supporting characters. Media outlets believe that this is the case because soon, the spotlight will be on Crowley, who may finally get to know who his father is.

In an interview with MTV, Ruth Connell, who plays the role of Rowena in the long-running series, revealed that there are three actors that are being optioned to play the King of Hell's daddy – William Shatner, William Morgan Sheppard and Michael Fassbender.

Whether or not the storyline pushes through and one of the actors end up playing the role remain to be seen but what Connell has promised, this time in an interview with Nerdist, is that fans will get to know more about Rowena's past in episode 10 of "Supernatural" season 11.

The series returns on air on Jan. 20 at  9 p.m. ET on The CW.
