Sam (Jared Padalecki) will be offered a way out of the cage in Hell in the upcoming episode of the hit CW series "Supernatural."

When the younger Winchester brother found himself locked up once again with Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino), it looked like it would take a long time before his brother Dean (Jensen Ackles) could come up with a way to get him out. The midseason finale revealed that it was Lucifer who was sending Sam false visions that the former could help them defeat Amara/The Darkness (Emily Swallow). Now that the Prince of Darkness has Sam trapped with no way out, he will be offering him freedom in exchange for something.

The synopsis for the upcoming episode titled "The Devil is in the Details" reveals that Lucifer's offer comes with "a steep price." Is he planning to make Sam his vessel once again? If that is the case, will Sam agree? Surrendering his body to Lucifer is bound to create ramifications beyond his control. Meanwhile, Dean is moving heaven and hell to help his brother. At the same time, he is figuring out how to break free from his strong connection to Amara because of the Mark of Cain. Dean and Castiel (Misha Collins) will also look into the only probable means of defeating her – the angel-smiting they witnessed last episode.

Meanwhile, the Winchesters will cross paths again with a familiar face in an upcoming episode in season 11B. According to Entertainment Weekly, Kim Rhodes will reprise her role as Sheriff Jody Mills. The actress posted several messages on Twitter as a teaser on her return to the CW series. Mills will reportedly ask Sam and Dean to help out with a case that falls "a bit too close to home." Viewers know that she serves as a guardian to the daughter of Castiel's vessel, Jimmy Novak.

"Supernatural" returns Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
