Supernatural Season 12: Misha Collins teases that Season 4 Castiel will make a return; Mary Winchester to re-establish relationship with sons

Expect the strong and tough Castiel of Season 4 to return when Supernatural returns for its epic dozenth season.

This was the assurance made by Misha Collins, the actor who plays the angel Cas, after previous seasons had Castiel taking on various roles like the leader of Heaven in God's absence, losing his angel powers and most recently as the reluctant vessel of Lucifer himself.

In an interview with Blastr, Collins said that the beginning of the new season will see the determined Castiel of old when he was originally introduced in the show. Collins said that it makes sense given the number of ordeals that his character has been through in an effort to help the Winchesters save the world.

"We are actually starting off season 12 with Cas kind of angry and kind of determined to fix things. It's kind of badass Cas again, like way back from season 4. And It's fun to play with, I think for a long time Cas has been kind of broken,"he explained.

The boys will also be reunited with their mother Mary who has long been deceased from the show. But since almost everybody has died and lived again among the lead characters, having someone come back from the dead seems to be a regular occurrence in the show.

Samantha Smith, who plays the character, said in an Enstarz interview that it will be challenging to re-establish her character's relationship with her sons.

"I don't think she knows where she is, what's happening, why am I here? I was on fire a minute ago, what is going on? And in much the same way that I don't Dean is positive she is who she looks like she is, she may not A) know who he is at all or [B)] if he really is who he says he is. I think as a hunter your first instinct is doubt, always," she added.
