With "Supernatural" season 12 premiering this week, fans are eager to know what the show has up its sleeve that could top the "God and the Darkness" storyline from last season.

For starters, with the return of Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith) — through the help of Amara (Emily Swallow) — it can be expected that the show will return to the pursuit of  the "family business" of hunting down monsters and other mythical beings, reported News Everyday.

But before they embark on hunting missions or try to rebuild the relationship between Mary and her children Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki), they should first save Sam from the clutches of the British arm of the Men of Letters, who captured him before the end of the season 11 finale.

Cas (Misha Collins) is also set to unleash all his rage on Lucifer this season after he was used by his "brother" as an unwilling vessel last season. His anger will even push him to join forces with Crowley (Mark Sheppard) — the King of Hell — to take Lucifer down.

Speaking of Lucifer, he will now be inhabiting a different vessel when the show returns. This season, Lucifer will come in the form of an aging rock star named Vince Vicente (Rick Springfield) who will have fun as the subject of adoration of fans.

"What he [Lucifer] discovers is that, in some ways, God had the right idea. Worship is fun. Having people worship you, it's a good time. So for him, popping into someone like the rock star Vince Vincente, it allows him experience that almost God-like worship," executive producer Andrew Dabb told TVLine

Hitler himself may also make an appearance in episode 5 this season as the Winchesters help fellow hunter Adam Rose (Aaron Bass) fight off Nazi necromancers – one of them being Hitler, reported IBTimes.

"Supernatural" will premiere its twelfth season today, Oct. 13.
