The British Men of Letters still have Sam (Jared Padalecki) hostage and are threatening to take over hunting on the Winchesters' turf. Meanwhile, Sam and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are not entirely sure how to feel about their mother's return.

Previously in the premiere of "Supernatural" season 12, Toni Bevell (Elizabeth Blackmore) still has Sam hostage and has tried different torturing techniques on him to get him to reveal the names of the other hunters doing a bad job in protecting humans, or so she says. Although Sam has failed in trying to escape, Dean, Castiel (Misha Collins), and Mary (Samantha Smith) are already on their way to get Sam back.

Even though The British Men of Letters appear to have the upper hand in the situation, showrunner Andrew Dabb tells TV Line that they are not the biggest threat to the Winchesters.

"They're a threat. Lady Toni Bevell has got it in for our boys. But Lucifer is still out there, and whenever Lucifer's on the playing field, it's hard to think anybody is going to top him," said Dabb. It looks like The British Men of Letters and Toni Bevell will be more of a distraction in trying to take down Lucifer (Rick Springfield) before he takes over the world.

Meanwhile, the return of their mother Mary is more than a good thing for both Sam and Dean. But Dabb explains that the two have not yet really processed how they should feel about the return of their mother.

"They're happy and conflicted. It's like a miracle. But the Mary who's coming back is someone who had walked away from hunting but now walks in a world where her sons are hunters," added Dabb.

He went on to explain that because Mary was in heaven for 33 years, she has definitely changed. Sam and Dean are worried how Mary will be adjusting to the new world, especially to their lives of being hunters.

Some speculations point out that because Mary never wanted her sons to become hunters like her and their father John (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) were, she might create a conflict somewhere in season 12 while trying to get Sam and Dean to stop hunting for good.
