It looks like Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) will be around for a long while as The CW is confident "Supernatural" season 12 won't be their last ride.

During the Television Critics Association summer press tour, The CW president Mark Pedowitz said that the hit series will be on the network in the years to come.

"Jared and Jensen seem very happy. I'm thrilled with the creative direction of the show," Pedowitz said. If the ratings hold, the show could outlast my tenure in this chair [as network head]," he went on to say.

For this season, Jeremy Carver will no longer be showrunner with Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer taking over. Carver has been showrunner since season 8, but began his work in "Supernatural" as a writer in season 3.

He left after season 5 to work on "Being Human" for Syfy then returned for the show's eighth run and is once again leaving "Supernatural" season 12 to work on his new series "Frequency."

"Supernatural" season 12 will see Sam and Dean apart as the former was shot by Lady Toni Bevell (Elizabeth Blackmore) and was abducted by the Men of Letters, the big bad for the new season.

Sam, on the other hand, will do his best to get his brother safely and he will do so in the style of Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) in "Taken." Sam is expected to drop the famous line: "I Will find you and I will kill you."

Dabb said that the Winchester brothers won't be away from each other for a long time. In fact, two or three episodes into "Supernatural" season 12, Sam and Dean will be together again.

However, they will still be dealing with the Men of Letters, Lucifer with a new vessel to be played by Rock Springfield, and the return of their mother Mary (Samantha Smith).

"Supernatural" season 12 premieres Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
